Auto Club 400 Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Ryan Newman – Ryan Newman is the top ranked fantasy “Front Runner Rankings” driver for the Auto Club 400. On high-speed intermediate tracks Ryan Newman’s fantasy value is the highest on big 2.0 mile ovals like Auto Club Speedway. Currently at this California track he has four consecutive top tens. That ranks as the longest active top ten streak in the series. Over these four races he has the 7th best driver rating, a 6.8 average finish and a 10.3 average running position. In 2013 at Auto Club Speedway he finished 10th despite his 16th place average running position and 15th best driver rating. In his next three most recent races he had results of 7th, 5th and 5th. At Michigan he’s recently been successful. In the last six races there he has three top tens and three finishes in the teens. Even though he’ll be with a different employer on Sunday I wouldn’t expect him to perform differently. At Las Vegas a few weeks ago Newman finished 7th and had the 9th best driver rating. Greg Biffle – Big 2.0 mile ovals like Auto Club Speedway rank as some of Greg Biffle’s best tracks. Last season his lone win of the year came at Auto Club Speedway’s sister track Michigan. In June at MIS he led nearly a quarter of the race (48 laps) and earned the best driver rating. In August he finished 9th and led 28 laps. In August 2012 Biffle also emerged victorious and went to victory lane. In the last seven MIS races he has a 7.7 average finish, 6.4 average running position and the best driver rating. Also over those races he’s led +26 laps each race for a grand total of 360 laps led. Last year at Auto Club Speedway Biffle had a solid race. He started in the rear of the field because of an engine change. By the midway point he reached the top ten where he consistently ran for the rest of the race. When the checkered flag waved he finished 6th. In 2012 he also finished 6th. In his career at Fontana he has 1 win and 7 top ten finishes. On 2.0 mile ovals in 2013 Biffle scored the 2nd most points, had the 2nd best average finish (5.3) and earned the 3rd best driver rating. At Las Vegas a few weeks ago Biffle looked lost. He finished 22nd and had a 27th place average running position. I will say that performance scares me and it’s why he’s ranked so low for the Auto Club 400. (Yahoo B Driver)

Brian Vickers – Brian Vickers hasn’t raced at Auto Club Speedway since 2011. I wouldn’t be to concerned about his lack of recent seat time. If anything I like it because it adds value to his fantasy potential if it will keep other people away. In his recent races at Auto Club Speedway he’s been quite good. In 7 of his last 8 races he had a result between 8th and 12th. That’s the type of consistency you should be looking for in a dark horse fantasy pick. In his most recent race in 2011 he finished 8th. Michigan is Auto Club Speedway’s sister track and he’s been quite successful there. He’s a former winner and has finished in the top ten in 6 of his last 7 races. At Las Vegas Vickers finished 13th and had a 13th place average running position. (Yahoo B Driver)
