Yahoo C List Fantasy Preview – Darlington Bojangles Southern 500
Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson only has one race under his belt at Darlington. Seat time is important here but in his lone start in the Nationwide Series he performed well. In 2013 he started in 7th, had an 8th place average running position and finished 6th. With such a limited track record and body of work you really need to see how practice and qualifying play out for the prodigy. Last season in the 42 car Juan Pablo Montoya performed well. He finished 8th, had a 12th place average running position and earned the 12th best driver rating.
Austin Dillion – No rookie has ever won at Darlington in their first career start. On Saturday night in the Darlington Bojangles Southern 500 it’s fair to assume that fact will once again stand the test of time. This will be his first start in a Sprint Cup car at Darlington. In the Nationwide Series he’s had some success. In 2013 in the lower series he started 8th, had an 8th place average running position and finished 11th. In 2012 he started in 3rd, finished 5th and had a 6th place average running position. Recently at Darlington Kevin Harvick had been a solid performer in the 29 car.

Justin Allgaier – Justin Allgaier has been one of the more steady Yahoo C list drivers this year. He hasn’t done anything spectacular but he’s done a good job taking care of his equipment. All of his finishes this year have been between 17th and 31st. In last years Nationwide Series race at Darlington Allgaier finished 10th and had a 9th place average running position. In 2012 in the lower series he finished 13th.
Danica Patrick – Danica Patrick has two Darlington starts under her belt. In neither race has she performed well. That’s a trend I’m going to stick with when predicting how she’ll perform in the Bojangles Southern 500. Last season she was very uncompetitive. She started in 40th, finished five laps down and had a 28th place result. Also in her performance she had a 32nd place average running position and had a near start and park 43.4 driver rating. In the race she found herself a lap down in just 28 laps. That’s startling when you keep in mind she’s essentially in Hendrick equipment. In her pre-rookie year Darlington was one of the “hard” tracks Tony Stewart hand picked for her to run at. In that race she finished 31st, had a 32nd place average running position and earned the 32nd best driver rating. Also in that race she found herself a lap down on lap 28.
