Pre-race Notes: Jimmie Johnson started in the back. He missed practice and qualifying due to the birth of his daughter. He didn’t turn a lap in this car until the green flag waved.
Garage insiders thought the 15 car was the team to beat.
Race Notes: Jeff Gordon started on the pole and lead the first 49 laps.
Top Five 11 laps into the race … 24,2,78,15,1
Denny Hamlin raced Joey Logano really hard about 20 laps into the race while they were battling for 7th.
Running Order 30 laps in the race: … 24,2,15,78,1,20,11,22,56,42 … 18,16,43,5,29,31,88,39,99,55
Kasey Kahne started liking his car about 40 laps into the race.
Joey Logano was tight in the middle about 46 laps into the race. At that point in the race he fell back 4 spots.
Kurt Busch passed Clint Bowyer for third on lap 49.
Brad Keselowski took the lead from Jeff Gordon on lap 50.
Jeff Gordon lost second place a few laps later to Kurt Busch. The 78 car was fast and started closing on Keselowski pretty quickly.
64 laps into the race Paul Wolfe said the 2 team brought the best car they’ve ever had at Richmond and that they know they can win. Prior to the race they tested here.
Kurt Busch had a good long run car. Rolled good through the corner.
Kurt Busch passed Keselowski for the lead on lap 66.
Jeff Gordon was in 7th on lap 65. His car was loose off the corners.
Jamie McMurray passed Keselowski for second on lap 77. The strength of his car was long runs.

Jimmie Johnson was lapped by lap 70. His car was extremely tight in the middle.
Joey Logano was in 25th on lap 84. He was really struggling.
