Talladega Aaron’s 499 Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch is one of the best drafters in NASCAR. Recently at Talladega he’s ranked among the best. In three out of the last four races he’s had a top five result. Last fall he had an eventful race and he still managed to finish 5th. During the first round of green flag pit stops he missed his pit stall. He then came in to pit the following lap. As a result he was running by himself and lost the draft. Later in the race he went a lap down but he eventually got it back by means of the “Lucky Dog” award. In spring 2013 he had a short race. On lap #43 he attempted to bump draft Kasey Kahne but it ended up wrecking both of them and took out about 10 other cars. In 2012 at Talladega he had results of 3rd and 2nd. In 2008 Kyle Busch went to victory lane here. From a career perspective Talladega has been a tough track for him. In 56% percent of his races he’s had a result outside the top twenty. At Daytona this year Kyle Busch had a good car but was wrecked on the final lap and finished 19th. Also at Daytona he led 19 laps and earned the 7th best driver rating. (Yahoo A Driver)

Joey Logano – Early in his career Talladega was arguably Joey Logano’s best track. In four out of his first five races he finished in the top ten. Recently Talladega has become a trouble spot. In four of the last five Talladega races he’s finished 24th or worse. His one result outside of that range came in last falls race when he finished 16th. In that race he performed better than his finish. He earned the 7th best driver rating, led 7 laps and had a 10th place average running position. In the Daytona 500 this year the Penske Fords were strong. Keselowski was a contender for the win at the end and Joey Logano finished 11th. His driver rating for the race ranked as the 4th best. Clint Bowyer – Clint Bowyer is always a popular fantasy NASCAR pick every time the series rolls around to Talladega. At Talladega he’s a two-time winner who’s finished in the top five a quarter of the time and in the top ten half the time. Another reason why Clint Bowyer is usually at the top of people’s list at Talladega is because he’s a fairly safe fantasy option. Since October of 2007 he only has three finishes lower than 12th and has the best average finish among drivers who completed in all thirteen of those events (11.1). His average finish since then would be even better because he’s had a few recent races that deserve asterisk marks. Last fall at Talladega Clint Bowyer had a fairly quiet race. He ran towards the back for much of the early portion of the race to protect his car and at the end he finished 10th. In spring 2013 Bowyer had one of the best cars but it was one of those races that get an asterisk mark. With 17 laps to go he was one of six drivers who were in a front breakaway driving away from the pack. Shortly after that there was a caution that regrouped the field and he was then involved in the late big one with 6 laps to go. When the checkered flag waved he finished 18th. In fall 2012 Bowyer almost got his third Talladega win. He was the leader at the time of the Green-White-Checker but during the final restart Kenseth came down the track which caused him to get shuffled out of line. Then shortly afterwards he got collected in the carnage. Prior to that race Bowyer had five straight top 7 finishes. (Yahoo A Driver)
