Michigan Early Week Pre-Practice Top 20 Fantasy Projections – Quicken Loans 400
Can Hendrick Make It Five In A Row?
Like Pocono last weekend, Michigan International Speedway was repaved before the 2012 season, so this week we’ll focus mainly on the statistics from the four races ran here since. The track is incredibly fast now because there is so much grip, with teams reportedly nearing 215 mph in the last test session here. Horsepower is important here because Michigan is such a big, wide track, so that favors teams like Hendrick and Penske, who have been fast all year. Also fuel mileage comes into play here a lot, which means we could be looking a crazy finish–and another excellent week to try out some sleepers. Finally, tires don’t wear as much here at Michigan, so we should see plenty of two-tires stops and strategy calls by the guys on the pit box Sunday. Auto Club Speedway is another 2-mile race track, so you might want to look at who was good there back in March, especially if you have a toss-up between two drivers.
