Kentucky Quaker State 400 Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Aric Almirola – Aric Almirola is the top ranked Mid Pack Prediction driver for the Kentucky Quaker State 400. This weekend has good dark horse / sleeper fantasy potential at Kentucky. In the last three races on 1.5 mile tracks he’s had results of 8th, 11th and 12th. Also in those races he has a 14.0 average running position and has scored the 9th most points. At Kentucky Almirola has two starts under his belt. Last season he had an OK race but he probably finished a little better than he should have. In the race he finished 15th but you can’t overlook his 19th place average running position and his 19th best driver rating. Over about the last 15 laps he moved up from 23rd to his eventual finish position. In 2012 he started in 13th, had a 25th place average running position and finished 26th. You can take my word for it that the #43 car wasn’t very good. In the race he found himself a lap down in just the first 90 laps. (Yahoo B Driver)

Martin Truex Jr. – Martin Truex Jr. has had some success at Kentucky. At this 1.5 mile track he has two top tens, an 11.0 average finish and has completed 100% percent of the laps. Also between the three races he has a 12.3 average running position and the 9th best driver rating. Last year he had a solid race. He finished 7th and had a 12th place average running position. On lap 89 in the race he was burned by a caution during the pit cycle. That dropped him from about 13th back to 30th. He was able to rebound from that incident quickly and about 30 laps later he was running in 11th. In 2012 Truex Jr. had a good Kentucky performance. He started in 10th, finished 7th and had an 8th place average position. Also in the race he earned the 6th best driver rating. In the event the only time he dropped out of the top 8 was during pit cycles. Here’s his Yahoo! Race Chart. In 2011 at Kentucky Martin Truex Jr. struggled and even got lapped (finished 18th). This season on 1.5 mile tracks he’s shown “teaser potential” but I wouldn’t recommend picking him. I think the risk is somewhat high. (Yahoo B Driver)

Kurt Busch – Kurt Busch has been a volatile driver for fantasy racers this season. On 1.5 mile tracks he’s been terrible. On tracks of this length in 2014 his best finish came at Las Vegas and in that race he finished in 26th, three laps down. His best performance on a 1.5 mile track this season came at Charlotte and in that race he was having a low double digit performance but his engine couldn’t go the distance. In the four races combined on 1.5 mile tracks he’s only scored 42 points and has a 33.5 average finish. As a fantasy racer I don’t know how you can work with that because it’s just asking for trouble. Last season at Kentucky he ran a good race. He finished 6th and earned the 12th best driver rating. In the inaugural race at Kentucky in Penske equipment Kurt Busch was a serious contender. He qualified in third and made a dive bomb move on lap #1 and proceeded to lead the first 31 laps. Also in that race he had the second best average running position (4th) and earned the 4th best driver rating. When the checkered flag waved he finished 9th. In 2012 when he drove the #51 car he performed relatively well when you consider his equipment. In that race he started in 14th and finished 19th. (Yahoo A Driver)
