Denny Hamlin entered the race winning the Sprint Unlimited and his Duel 150. No driver has ever won all three events of Speed Weeks

Daytona 500 Race Notes
Austin Dillon lead the first lap and on lap #2 Denny Hamlin passed him for the lead on the back straightaway.
Kyle Larson scrapped the wall on lap #2 and on lap #3. He had a right side tire going down. He pitted under green on lap #4 and went one went one lap down.
Austin Dillon was in 15th on lap #6.
Early in the race running the high-line was clearly the fastest way around the track.
Denny Hamlin surrendered the lead on lap 10 so he could get behind other cars to get debris off his grille. His car was running hot.
Kurt Busch took the lead after Hamlin jumped out of line to cool off his engine.
On lap 16 Greg Biffle had a tire going down and got into the wall. As a result he pitted under green and dropped one lap down. He was running in 21st at the time.
Running order on lap 20: 41,27,88,33,9,11,38,18,24,5 … 55,20,21,3,47,31,26,40,
Kyle Larson spun on lap 23 and brought out the first caution. He got right side damage and dropped two laps down. Biffle got the “Lucky Dog” for the caution.
Matt Kenseth spun on pit road during the first round of pit stops under caution on lap 25. Kenseth said he couldn’t find his pit sign.
Kurt Busch lost the lead on lap 27 and lost a handful of positions quickly. Paul Menard took the lead as a result.
Martin Truex Jr.’s engine blew up on lap 31. It brought out the caution for fluid on the track.
On Lap 39 the red flag waved for rain. After this the race resumed in the evening.
Kyle Busch was the early leader when the race resumed. The bottom groove came to life at night.
