Pocono GoBowling.com 400 Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Greg Biffle – Roush Fenway Racing is down on horsepower and that hurts Biffle’s fantasy potential at Pocono in the GoBowling.com 400. Earlier this season he had a lack luster performance. He started in 13th, finished 16th, earned the 17th best driver rating and had an 18th place average running position. If anything I would say his result is better than how he performed. From his 13th place starting position he fell back to the mid-twenties in just the first 40 laps. If it wasn’t for pit strategy he likely would’ve finished back there. Prior to the race earlier this season he was quietly one of the best drivers at Pocono since the repave. Last August he finished 10th, had an 11th place average running position and earned the 11th best driver rating. In the event nothing notable happened to him, it was just an all-around solid race. In June 2013 the #16 car was extremely strong. At the end of the race when it was time to get aggressive Biffle did so and drove up to a second place finish. In 2012 he was good in both races but didn’t finish were he deserved in either one. In August 2012 he was running in the top five but got collected up in the last restart wreck. In that race he had the 5th best driver rating, a 7th place average running position and finished 15th. In June 2012 he had one of the best cars but had engine problems with a quarter of the race remaining. Before those issues surfaced he led 19 laps and had a car that could run in the top three. Biffle has raced at Pocono 22 times and he has one win and a 16.4 average finish. (Yahoo B Driver)

Jamie McMurray – Navigating Pocono has been by no means a strength for Jamie McMurray. He has a 20.3 average finish and his best result is 9th. Prior to the race this June Jamie McMurray tested here with teammate Kyle Larson. I would say the test paid off because both Ganassi cars finished in the top ten. In the race Jamie McMurray started in 18th, had a 17th place average running position and finished 10th. Also in the race he earned the 14th best driver rating and ran in the top fifteen 45% percent of the time. In August 2013 McMurray’s race got off to a rough start. On lap 11 while he was running in 13th he came in for an unexpected pit stop because debris was on his grille and his car was getting hot. This unexpected pit stop dropped him back to 40th. Luckily for him a few laps later the caution came out when Hamiln got into the wall. In that race McMurray finished 16th, had a 17th place average running position and earned the 17th best driver rating. In spring 2013 he started in 22nd and finished 13th. Also in that race he had an 18th place average running position and earned the 18th best driver rating. In 2012 McMurray used strategy heavily in both races. In June 2012 he finished 10th and in August 2012 he finished 17th. (Yahoo B Driver)

Martin Truex Jr. – Martin Truex Jr. has been a solid driver at Pocono and recently he’s shown a level of consistency. In the last 8 Pocono races he has 4 top tens, 5 top fifteens and a 12.6 average finish. Earlier this year at Pocono he had a good race. He started in 17th, had a 15th place average running position and finished 9th. Also in the race he earned the 12th best driver rating and ran 55% percent of the laps inside the top fifteen. Last August there was nothing special about his performance and he spent much of his afternoon running mid-pack. In the race he started in 26th and climbed up to 17th in the first 10 laps. When the checkered flag waved he finished 15th, earned the 18th best driver rating and had a 19th place average running position. In that race he only ran in the top fifteen in 20% percent of the laps. Last June Truex Jr. performed better than he finished. In that race he had a low double-digit car but while he was completing a late pit stop the caution came out. That trapped him back in the running order and he was never able to recover and as a result he finished 23rd. In August 2012 Truex Jr. finished 3rd which tied his best finish. In June 2012 his race was basically over before it started because he was involved in an accident on lap #1. The wreck didn’t lead to a DNF, but it did cause him to finish 20th. Between August 2011 and August 2010 Truex Jr. had results of 12th, 10th and 9th. (Yahoo B Driver)
