Yahoo C List Fantasy NASCAR Preview – Pocono GoBowling.com 400
Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson is the best default Yahoo C List fantasy pick you can make for the Pocono GoBowling.com 400. In June Kyle Larson made his Pocono debut. Prior to the race he tested here and it paid off because he came home with a 5th place finish. In the race he performed very well especially in the closing laps when he was applying pressure to the revered Pocono Top Tier Elite legend Denny Hamlin. A big reason for his success was his pit strategy. Late in the race when others choose not to pit he did and took four tires. This allowed him to do a quick final pit stop where he didn’t have to take four tires and gets lots of track position. In the portions of the race where pit strategy wasn’t a large element of the race he typically ran around the low double digits. Also in the race earlier this season Larson started in 14th, had a 13th place average running position, earned the 7th best driver rating and led 7 laps. It’s important to point out those laps led all came through pit strategy around the mid-point. On the Saturday before the Sprint Cup race in June Larson went to victory lane in the ARCA series. At Indy Larson finished 7th.

Austin Dillon – Prior to the race at Pocono this June Austin Dillon tested here. It’s hard to say it really helped him because he had a mediocre performance. He started in 11th, had a 22nd place average running position and finished 17th. His driver rating for the race ranked as the 18th best. It’s important to note his race wasn’t incident free. On lap 85 during a restart he got penalized for switching lanes too early. As a result he had to do a drive through penalty under green. At the time of the incident he was running in 24th. Because of where he was running at the time it’s hard to say it really affected him. If you’re looking to pick Dillon one reason for optimism is that he now has a race under his belt so in theory he should be better. At Indy Dillon finished 10th.

Danica Patrick – Danica Patrick played a huge role in outcome of the race this June. Brad Keselowski was trying to get debris off his grille but she got loose off a turn which cost Keselowski all of his momentum. In the race she started in 16th, had a 23rd place average running position and finished 37th. Her race wasn’t incident free. On lap 137 while she was running 2nd because of pit strategy she brought out the caution when she got into the wall. Last August on lap 110 Danica Patrick was caught up in a multi-car wreck that sent her to the garage area. At the time of the incident she was running around 20th. In June 2013 she started in 30th and finished 29th. Her average running position in that race was 23rd.
Justin Allgaier – Justin Allgaier’s fantasy potential is very limited for the Pocono GoBowling.com 400. Earlier this year he had his first Pocono race and wasn’t competitive. He started in 24th, had a 21st place average running position and finished 27th. Indy is the most similar track on the schedule and last week he also finished 27th. This season on the track Allgaier has a 26.9 average finish and has only had a result in the top twenty twice.
