Yahoo C List Fantasy NASCAR Preview – Watkins Glen CHEEZ-IT 355
Kyle Larson – At Sonoma Kyle Larson ran well until he had he had power steering problems. Prior to his issue it looked like he would potentially finish around the top ten. Instead he ended up finishing 27th. In the K&N series the day prior to the event he started on the pole, led every lap and went to victory lane. Last season in the Nationwide Series at Watkins Glen he had engine problems and finished 30th. From an allocation perspective I wouldn’t recommend picking Larson. He may very well be the top Yahoo C lList scorer but he’ll do better at other venues.

Danica Patrick – Just because Danica Patrick drove an open wheel car don’t fall for the trap thinking she’s a good road course driver. They were a weakness for her in that series. In 2013 Patrick made her first and only Sprint Cup start at Watkins Glen. There was nothing special about her performance. She started in 35th, had a 25th place average running position and finished 20th. Also in the race she earned the 25th best driver rating and ran in the top fifteen in 8.9% percent of the laps completed. At Sonoma earlier this season there was nothing special about her performance. She started in 11th, had a 23rd place average running position and finished 18th. Also in the race she earned the 20th best driver rating.

Austin Dillon – Austin Dillon has zero Sprint Cup starts under his belt at Watkins Glen. At Sonoma earlier this season he didn’t have a great performance. He started in 26th, had a 22nd place average running position and finished 17th. Also in the race he earned the 24th best driver rating. In 2013 in the lower series at Watkins Glen he started in 14th and finished 12th. In 2012 in the lower series he started in 30th and finished 23rd. As you can see his fantasy potential is very limited.
Boris Said – The days of road course ringers are dead and aren’t coming back. They don’t get competitive cars anymore and their cup competitors have gone to road course racing school and have become better drivers over the years. On Sunday Boris Said will be driving the #32. At Sonoma earlier this season he drove this car to an uncompetitive 35th place finish. When you look at Boris Said’s recent Watkins Glen finishes you’ll notice a trend. Here’s his results since 2008. 22,25,22,38,34 and 24.
Justin Allgaier – Justin Allgiaer has had success in the Nationwide Series at road courses. In 2012 at Montreal he went to victory lane. Last season in the Nationwide Series he had results of 2nd (Elkhart Lake), 7th (Watkins Glen) and 8th (Mid Ohio). At Sonoma Allgaier qualified 35th, had a 35th place average running position and finished 33rd.
Nelson Piquet Jr.– On Sunday Nelson Piquet Jr. will be making his first Sprint Cup start in the #77. I wouldn’t hold out hope for anything good to happen from this venture. In 2014 this car number has finishes of 43rd, 33rd, 43rd and 41st. Last year in the Nationwide Series at Watkins Glen Piquet Jr. started in 7th, had a 10th place average running position and finished 9th. In his other road course starts in 2013 he had results of 27th (Mid-Ohio) and 21st (Elkhart Lake).
