Richmond Federated Auto Parts 400 Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Greg Biffle – Greg Biffle will likely be around a mid to high teen performer at Richmond in the Federated Auto Parts 400. In the three races on shorter flat tracks this season he’s finished between 15th and 17th place every race. In the combined races at these venues he has a 15.7 average finish, 17.3 average running position and the 19th best driver rating. His results at the two other similar tracks this season are 17th (Phoenix) and 15th (New Hampshire). This spring at Richmond in the second half of the race he consistently ran around the mid-teens. In the race he finished 15th, had a 15th place average running position and earned the 16th best driver rating. Also in the race he started in 26th and ran in the top fifteen 51.5% percent of the laps completed. Last fall he had a good race. He started 9th, had a 9th place average running position, earned the 9th best driver rating and finished 12th. With 20 laps remaining he was in 6th but when the checkered flag waved he finished 12th. In spring 2013 he had an eventful race. He started 33rd and moved up to 19th but then trouble struck. Around lap #165 he had a broken shock mount and then later in the race on lap 232 he spun. When the checkered flag waved he finished 36th and earned the 32nd best driver rating. In fall 2012 he finished 9th. That was his first Richmond top ten since 2006. Between his top tens he had a result in the teens 73% percent of the time. I don’t know how Biffle has done it but now he currently has 5 consecutive top tens for the season. (Yahoo B Driver)

AJ Allmendinger – Shorter flat tracks have historically been AJ Allmendinger’s best track type. Recently at Richmond he’s been a solid performer. Since 2010 he has an 11.8 average finish (8th best in the series), 14.9 average running position and the 14th best driver rating. This spring at Richmond he had his best performance of the season on an oval. In the race he finished 6th, earned the 12th best driver rating and had a 16th place average running position. For much of the race until the final 30 laps he ran between the low teens and the high teens. In 2013 in Finch Racing equipment he had results of 15th and 16th. (Yahoo B Driver)

Martin Truex Jr. – Earlier this year at Richmond Martin Truex Jr. got his first top ten of the season. In the race he performed at his best in the last quarter of the event. Over the final 100 laps he was a driver who consistently ran 11th or better. When the checkered flag waved he finished 10th and earned the 14th best driver rating. Also in the race he started in 22nd and had a 15th place average running position. Last season he had a good year at Richmond. In the fall with a broken wrist he finished 7th, had a 14th place average running position and earned the 14th best driver rating. At the end of the race he was a driver who benefited from the caution with 58 laps to go. Prior to the caution he was clearly a mid-teen driver and was by no means going to finish 7th. In spring 2013 he was going to have a good finish but with 55 laps to go while he was running in second Kurt Busch spun him. If that didn’t happen he could’ve potentially had his best race ever at Richmond. From a career perspective Richmond hasn’t been a great track for him. He’s finished in the top ten 24% percent of the time and has had a result outside the top twenty 59% percent of the time. This season between the three races on shorter flat tracks he has a 14.7 average finish and a 16.7 average running position. (Yahoo B Driver)
