Chicagoland MYAFIBSTORY.com 400 Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Ryan Newman – Ryan Newman is the top ranked Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings driver for the Chicagoland MyAfibStory.com 400. Chicagoland has been a good track for him. He’s a former winner (2003) and has finished in the top ten in 6 of the last 7 races. Over this 7 race stretch he has a 9.9 average finish, 12.6 average running position and the 12th best driver rating. Currently Newman has three straight top tens here. In last season’s race he started in 20th and ran mediocre for the first two-thirds of the event. In the final third he ran better. In that portion of the race he consistently ran within a few deviations of 9th. When the checkered flag waved he finished 10th and earned the 15th best driver rating. In 2012 he started in 20th, finished 5th and earned the 8th best driver rating. In 2011 he led 18 laps and finished 8th. This season on 1.5 mile tracks Newman has been a solid steady performer. In the six races on tracks of this length he’s scored the 8th most points, has the 9th best driver rating and a 9.8 average finish. In half the races at these venues he’s finished in the top ten and his worst result at a 1.5 mile track is 16th. (Yahoo B Driver)

Tony Stewart – Chicagoland has been a great track for Tony Stewart. At this Midwest venue he’s developed quite a knack for finishing well. In his career he has three wins and has only finished outside the top ten twice in his twelve starts. Also in two-thirds of his Chicagoland races he’s finished in the top five. Minus his two finishes outside the top ten which were results in the thirties, he has a 3.7 average finish. Currently he has 6 straight top ten results. Last season he missed this race due to injury. In 2012 he started in 29th, had an 11th place average running position, finished 6th and earned the 6th best driver rating. In 2011 Tony Stewart had a magical Chase which led to a championship. His playoffs started that year when he got his first win of the season at Chicagoland. His next four Chicagoland finishes are 9th, 4th, 5th and 1st. This year on high-speed intermediate tracks Tony Stewart has been a good performer for the most part. On this track type minus Las Vegas (early season struggle) and Atlanta (crash) he has an 11.7 average finish and a 13.2 average running position. Atlanta is a similar track and he performed well at that venue a few weeks ago and had top ten potential until adversity surfaced. I think of Chicagoland as a mini Auto Club Speedway and at that big 2.0 mile oval earlier this year he finished 5th. (Yahoo B Driver)

Kurt Busch – This team has shown improvement over the course of the season on this track type. Earlier in the year he was to be absolutely avoided, but now they’ve developed some fantasy “playability”. At the last two 1.5 mile tracks visited Busch has come home with results of 12th and 13th. Also sandwiched between those races he had top five potential at Michigan until he got into the wall late. Last season at Chicagoland Busch had a good performance. He started in 16th and on lap 81 while he was running around 13th he was forced to serve a pass-through penalty after speeding on pit road. That penalty dropped him down a lap and had him around 30th in the running order. From that point on in the race he rallied back to the front. With about 80 laps to go he reached the top five and that’s where he essentially ran for the remainder of the event. In 2012 at Chicagoland Kurt Busch had some sort of problem in the #51 car because on lap 200 his hood was up on pit road. When the checker flag waved in that event he finished 32nd. In 2011 with Penske Racing he earned the best driver rating, finished 6th and led the most laps (64). In 54% percent of his Chicagoland starts he’s had a result in the top ten. (Yahoo B Driver)
