Jimmie Johnson – Started practice in qualifying trim and was at the top of the speed chart early. He was happy with his car in qualifying trim. He remained in qualifying trim the entire session

Dale Earnhardt Jr. – Started practice in race trim with a long run. About mid-way through practice he said his car felt better when he moved up the track. In qualifying trim his car was wicked free.

Kasey Kahne – Started practice in race trim with a +10 lap run. Kahne said his car felt really good in race trim but he was a little loose off.

Kevin Harvick – Started practice in race trim with an 8 lap run. He was too loose on corner exit. His lap times looked good. Went to qualifying trim about 45 minutes into practice. Said he unloaded fairly close. In his first run in qualifying trim he went to the top of the speed chart.
