Yahoo C List Fantasy NASCAR Preview – Martinsville Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500
Austin Dillon – This spring at Martinsville Austin Dillon made his first career start at the “Paper Clip”. He started in 34th and by lap 150 he reached 18th. From that point to the conclusion of the race he typically ran within a few deviations of 18th. When the checkered flag waved he finished 15th and earned the 21st best driver rating. This season on short tracks Dillon has scored the 23rd most points and has a 20.2 average finish. One advantage Dillon has on other Yahoo C List options is that he recently tested at Martinsville.

Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson shown flashes at Martinsville this spring that give reason for optimism. Just after the midpoint he raced as high as the top five. It was a race of “comers and goers” though and in the first third of the race and the last third he didn’t run very well. His race also wasn’t incident free. On lap 341 while he was running in 20th he was spun. From that point until the conclusion of the race he ran within a few deviations of 28th. When the checkered flag waved he finished two laps down in 27th. From an allocation perspective unless you’re overflowing with starts I wouldn’t recommend picking Larson in the Martinsville Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500.
Danica Patrick – Danica Patrick has had some success at Martinsville. Up until her race this spring I would argue this is her best unrestricted plate track. This spring she didn’t have a great performance. She started in 10th but when the green flag waved she fell through the field like a rock. From about lap 100 to the conclusion of the race she never ran better than 28th. When the checkered flag waved she finished 32nd and earned the 28th best driver rating. Last fall Patrick started in 41st but that didn’t seem to affect her too much. She finished 17th, had a 23rd place average running position and earned the 23rd best driver ranking. In April 2013 she had a shocking performance. In that event she started in the back because of an engine change but finished 12th. That result does deserve an asterisk mark though. In that event she only ran in the top fifteen 4.2% percent of the laps completed and had a 26th place average running position. Also it should be noted in that race she spun and went down a lap under green early. This season on short tracks Patrick has a 25.4 average finish.
Justin Allgaier – This season on short tracks Allgaier has scored the 26th most points and has a 21.6 average finish. Between all of these races he’s finished between 17th and 23rd. Getting a result right around this range is likely what you should expect if you pick him in the Martinsville Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500. This spring there was nothing special about his performance and he was simply a low twenties – mid-twenties performer. In the race he started 25th, had a 25th place average running position, finished 23rd and earned the 26th best driver rating. At Martinsville he has no other Sprint Cup starts under his belt.
