AAA Texas 500 Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions

Aric Almirola – Aric Almirola has had some quality performances at 1.5 mile tracks this season but he’s been a volatile performer. He has four results between 9th and 12th but his five other results are all 22nd or worse. At these venues minus Kentucky (crash) and Chicagoland (engine failure) he has a 16.9 average finish and an 18.4 average running position. Charlotte is the most recent similar track visited and at that venue he struggled to a 22nd place finish. At Texas recently Almirola has performed well. In three of the last four races he’s finished in the top fifteen. This spring he had a good showing and finished 12th. From about lap 140 to the conclusion of the race he ran right around 14th. In fall 2013 he didn’t run well. He finished 27th, had a 22nd place average running position and earned the 20th best driver rating. In spring 2013 he had a good performance. He started in 3rd, finished 7th and earned the 5th best driver rating. His 10.0 average running position from the race underrates him because during an early pit stop he lost a lot of track position. In the second half of the race after he got it back he ran as high as 5th. In fall 2012 he finished 15th. (Yahoo B Driver)

AJ Allmendinger – At Texas AJ Allmendinger has a 21.7 average result and has finished in the top fifteen 45% percent of the time. This spring at Texas he wasn’t competitive. He started in 33rd, earned the 27th best driver rating, had a 24th place average running position and finished 23rd. In 2013 Allmendinger missed both races. In fall 2012 he was involved in an accident and finished 36th. In his six next most recent Texas races he had a result between 10th and 19th every race. His average finish over that six race stretch is 13.5. In the last two races at 1.5 mile tracks Allmendinger has been performing better. At Kansas he finished 11th and at Charlotte he finished 12th.
