Great practice today. We made some huge improvements on the @McDonalds @Cessna Chevy. Tomorrow night is going to be fun!

Jamie McMurray – Jamie McMurray is a dark horse driver at restrictor plate tracks who has a proven track record of coming up big and being able to win the “Big One”. Of his 7 career wins 4 of them have come on this track type. Despite having won twice at Daytona it’s hard to say it’s a good venue for him. He’s only finished in the top ten 21% percent of the time and in the top twenty 38% percent of the time. In July 2014 at Daytona he looked competitive and was one of the consistent front runners after the first “Big One” ensued. After the first big wreck he led 11 laps and looked to have one of the best cars. His afternoon wasn’t incident free though. On lap #98 he got caught up in the carnage which led to his 30th place finish. At Daytona in February 2014 he had a quiet evening and avoided trouble. In the race he started in 22nd, had a 22nd place average running position and finished 14th. In July 2013 at Daytona McMurray had a very good race. He earned the 2nd best driver rating, finished 7th, had an 8th place average running position and led 10 laps. The strength of his car was that it handled well. McMurray really liked his car and he wanted to pass Johnson for the lead but his crew chief advised him to be patient. In the 2013 Daytona 500 McMurray had a disappointing race. He finished 32nd and was taken out in the carnage of the Kyle Busch / Kasey Kahne bump drafting “Big One”. Jamie McMurray’s Daytona victories were in 2010 and 2007. In October 2013 at Talladega McMurray raced his way to victory lane.
