Regan Smith’s fantasy value for the Daytona 500

Kurt Busch is suspended for the Daytona 500 and in his place Regan Smith will drive the #41.

I like Regan Smith’s fantasy value for this race. From a career perspective I would argue this is his best track type.

Back in the day when he was a full-time driver in the Sprint Cup Series he actually crossed the finish line first at Talladega but NASCAR ruled he went below the yellow line which cost him the race.

Last year in the lower series in the season opening race at Daytona Regan Smith drove his JR Motorsports Car to victory lane.

In Smith’s last Sprint Cup race at Daytona he finished 7th.

I would say the bottom line about Smith is that if he can avoid trouble fantasy racers should expect him to finish in the teens. I will note I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him finish in the top ten.
