Atlanta Folds Of Honor QuikTrip 500 Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Dale Earnhardt Jr. – Dale Earnhardt Jr. is the top ranked fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings driver for the Atlanta Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500. He runs well at Atlanta and should be good. He’s a former winner and currently has three straight top 11 results. Also in his career at Atlanta he’s finished in the top ten 44% percent of the time and in the top twenty 81% percent of the time. Among the 23 tracks on the circuit that top twenty percentage ranks as his second highest. Last year at Atlanta he had an OK race but was never really a contender. In the race he started in 20th, had a 15th place average running position, earned the 14th best driver rating and finished 11th. About the highest he ran in the event minus pit cycles was 9th. In 2013 he had a good evening and ran well. He started in 8th, finished 8th and had a 10th place average running position. Also in that race he ran in the top fifteen in 94.5% percent of the laps completed earning the 12th best driver rating. In 2012 Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished 7th. That finish deserves an asterisk mark because he wasn’t that good. For much of the race he was at least 1 lap down. At one point he was even down two laps. In that race he started in 35th, had a 17th place average running position and earned the 14th best driver rating. Last year at 1.5 mile tracks Dale Earnhardt Jr. was one of the stronger performers when he had an incident free race. (Yahoo A Driver)

Ryan Newman – Last season at 1.5 mile tracks Ryan Newman wasn’t one of the fastest performers, but he was one of the most consistent. In the 11 races at tracks of this length he scored the 3rd most points, had a 9.5 average finish, and was one of only two drivers who finished in the top twenty every race. Also in the races at 1.5 mile tracks he had an 11.5 average running position and paced the field for just 7 laps. Over the last half decade at Atlanta Newman has been a quality performer. Last year he had a solid performance. He started in 4th, finished 7th, earned the 9th best driver rating and had a 12th place average running position. Performance wise he finished a little better than how he ran. Some late pit strategy helped him get near the front at the end and then he hung on for a good result. In 2013 at Atlanta Newman finished 5th. What’s notable about that finish is that it tied his all-time best Atlanta result. In the race Newman ran well throughout the event. From lap 90 to the conclusion of the race he was a driver who consistently ran in the top ten. Over the final 100 laps I would estimate his average running position was around 3rd. Also in the race he earned the 7th best driver rating and had a 10th place average running position. In 2012 Newman had about a 13th place car but was involved in a multi-car wreck with 56 laps to go. It’s important to note early in the race he got lapped and had to take a wave around. In 2011 he finished 20th, had a 21st place average running position and earned the 22nd best driver rating. In 2010 he finished 8th. (Yahoo A Driver)

Clint Bowyer – Clint Bowyer had a down year at intermediate tracks in 2014 but I think he’s due for a bounce back towards his historical level of competitiveness. That means he’s typically a 6th through 13th place performer when he avoids trouble. From a career perspective Atlanta hasn’t been one of the more friendly venues for him. Among the 23 tracks on the schedule Atlanta is home to his worst average finish (21.07). In 14 races at this venue he only has 5 top tens and a grand total of 6 top twenties. Currently at Atlanta he has a four race streak of finishing 27th or worse. Last year at Atlanta Clint Bowyer had an asterisk mark 38th place finish. In the race he started in 21st and around the lap #81 caution while he was running in 17th his shifter broke which sent him to go to the garage for repairs dropping him down 20 laps. In some of Clint Bowyer’s other recent Atlanta races he was very competitive but walked away with misleading bad results. In 2013 Clint Bowyer was a serious contender for the win and ran up front nearly all race long. In that event he started in 12th, earned the 4th best driver rating and led 48 laps. Unfortunately his race wasn’t incident free. While he was leading around lap 190 his engine blew up. If that didn’t happen there’s no doubt he had a car that could’ve potentially won. Here’s his Yahoo Race Chart to better give you an idea of his level of competitiveness. In 2012 Clint Bowyer had a very good car at Atlanta. Don’t be fooled by his 27th place finish. In that race he started in the rear of the field because of an engine change but he didn’t stay back for long. In only 21 laps he was up to 21st. On lap #65 he cracked the top ten. The race wasn’t incident free for him though. It was marred with battery problems. On lap #184 after his second battery died he had to come in and get a new one installed. At the time he was running in 7th. In 2011 at Atlanta he started in 2nd, led 8 laps but was involved in an accident around lap 240 while he was running in 10th. His last incident free Atlanta race was in 2010 when he finished 7th. (Yahoo B Driver)
