Talladega Geico 500 NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

Drivers who sat out the first 15 minutes of practice due to inspection issues last week: Kevin Harvick, Aric Almirola and Alex Bowman

Joey Logano – Early in the session he was leading the pack running the low line. Using a brand new chassis and started practice with a long run.

AJ Allmendinger – Started the session making single file runs. Later in practice he joined the pack. He said his car is pretty fast. He’s using a new chassis. His car worked well in the draft. After this session he was done practicing for the day.

Tony Stewart – 11 minutes into practice he asked his team if anyone else thinks he’s slow. After completing 15 laps he said his car was too loose in the draft. With about 15 minutes remaining he said, “It was much better, but I still think it needs a little more.”

Brad Keselowski – Early in practice he was leading the pack running the high line.

Jimmie Johnson – Did his typical Talladega practice routine where he runs by himself. Around 15 minutes into practice he broke a mirror.
