Kurt Busch started in the rear of the field in a backup car after wrecking in practice.
Alex Bowman started in the rear of the field in a backup car.
Kansas Race Notes
Kevin Harvick won the pole and choose to start in the outside lane. He led the first 43 laps.
Jimmie Johnson started deep in the field in 32nd. On lap 7 he was running in 29th.

Early in the race Dale Earnhardt Jr. ran a little higher line than others and he had good speed on exit of the corners.

Kurt Busch was in 33rd on lap 21
Jamie McMurray had a good car. He started in 14th and moved up to 5th on lap 22. He carried a lot of speed on the exit of corners by running the higher groove.

Notable Moment: Kurt Busch short pitted on lap 34. He never ran any laps with his chassis in practice. During his pit stop he got a pass through penalty for speeding.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. moved up to 2nd on lap 35.
On lap 37 Jeff Gordon said he couldn’t run the high-line.
Regular green flag pit stops started around lap 42.
On lap 44 Jamie McMurray passed Kevin Harvick for the lead.
During the first round of pit stops Jimmie Johnson said his car didn’t work good in traffic.

On lap 63 Jamie McMurray started reporting he had some sort of vibration with his car. It was speculated it was a crush panel issue.
On lap 66 Clint Bowyer went a lap down.

During the first caution for debris Joey Logano took four tires and it dropped him to 10th.
On lap 76 during a restart Dale Earnhardt Jr. shot to the lead.
During the lap 76 restart Greg Biffle lost control of his car and fell from 6th to 21st.
Big Moment: Kurt Busch blew a left front tire on lap 78 and got heavy damage. He immediately went to the garage area.
Tony Stewart got the free pass following Kurt Busch’s accident.
On the lap 84 restart Jamie McMurray restarted in 3rd, and Gordon 4th, but they got loose and lost a ton of positions. It dropped them both back to the teens.
Big Moment: On lap 84 back in the pack during a restart lap Jimmie Johnson, Greg Biffle, Justin Allgaier and Josh Wise wrecked. Biffle was able to repair his damage. Jimmie Johnson was essentially done after this.
