Sprint Showdown Fantasy NASCAR Preview
Martin Truex Jr. – Martin Truex Jr. should be the favorite to win the Sprint Showdown. Performance wise among the drivers in this particular event he’s been the class of the field at 1.5 mile tracks this season. The only concern I have for him is that he’ll likely be near the front of the pack and when he makes his pit stop at the midway point everyone else will probably do the opposite.

Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson is a good intermediate track driver and he’ll be a driver to watch in the Sprint Showdown. This year at 1.5 mile tracks he’s shown potential but he hasn’t been coming home with good finishes. Last fall at Charlotte he was extremely impressive and was better than his 6th place result. In last year’s Sprint Showdown he finished 6th.
Paul Menard – Paul Menard should be one of the favorites to win the Sprint Showdown. Among the teams in this race he’s been one of the best performers at 1.5 mile. At the last two 1.5 mile tracks visited he’s had top five potential until circumstances dashed a good result.
Chase Elliott – Chase Elliott has never driven at a 1.5 mile track in NASCAR’s top series. His team might just be using this race as a glorified test session for next week’s Charlotte Coca Cola 600. From watching him in the lower series I feel that high-speed intermediate tracks are his strongest venues. This year in NASCAR’s lower series at high-speed intermediate tracks he has results of 5th, 5th, 4th, and 8th.
