Kurt Busch – He used this practice session as a test for tomorrow’s race simulating the different segments. Early in practice he said he was tight in and loose off. About halfway through practice he was still loose. During an interview he said his car is fast and he’s only working on small things. Had the best 5 lap average and 10 lap average speeds.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. – Way too free at the start of the session. Didn’t like his right rear and said he can’t run through the middle of the corner hard. Later in practice he said he hated his car. It looked really bad in a turn with about 50 minutes remaining. After completing 5 laps with 20 minutes remaining he asked his crew chief to tighten up his car. He said he couldn’t get to pit road the way he wanted. NOTE: Dale Earnhardt Jr. usually isn’t happy in practice.
Tony Stewart – Got an early blend line violation penalty. His lap times were slow. He told his crew chief to tighten him up and they’ll work backwards.
