DraftKings NASCAR Salary Cap Rules
CONTEST RULES
- In each game, participants will be assigned a fixed salary cap of $50,000 that they can use to draft their entire 6-driver roster.
- The Player Pool will consist of all drivers expected to participate in the upcoming race. Any missing drivers will not be added to the pool once DraftKings starts offering contests for that day. Driver salaries will also not change once DraftKings starts offering contests for that day.
- Contest results and winners will be based on the total points scored across each entrant’s 5-driver roster (scoring summarized below).
TEAM ROSTERS
- Rosters will consist of 6 drivers.

- Scoring Notes:
- Place Differential = (Starting Position) – (Finishing Position)
Example: If a driver starts in 20th position and finishes in 10th place then his Place Differential is +10. - A driver’s starting position is based solely on his qualifying position. If a driver’s starting position changes between qualifying and the start of the race for any reason (backup car, driver change, etc.), the qualifying position will be used to calculate place differential.
- Points for Finishing Position and Place Differential will be updated in real-time during the race. Drivers will gain points as they move up in position and lose points as they drop in position.
- Place Differential = (Starting Position) – (Finishing Position)
Driver Lock Notes: All drivers lock at the time the race starts.
Additional Rules
ELIGIBILITY
Driver eligibility determinations and decisions around racer inclusion into the player pool are at the sole discretion of DraftKings. If a driver withdraws, gets substituted out before the race, or does not end up participating in the race for any reason, that driver will receive zero fantasy points.
However, if a driver begins a race and gets replaced (for injury or any other reason), the stats earned by the original driver and his replacement will count for the original driver.
RACE CANCELLATIONS
In the event that a race is cancelled before it begins, all player entries will be cancelled and refunded.
RESCHEDULED RACES
If a race is postponed before it is scheduled to start and is rescheduled to a later time, DraftKings reserves the right to update contest start times to match the start time of the race.
SUSPENDED AND SHORTENED RACES
If NASCAR suspends a race and the race is resumed within a week of the start of the race, then DraftKings will include the entire race to settle contests and render them final.
If NASCAR suspends a race and the race is resumed after a week of the start of the race, then DraftKings will settle the contests and render them final, provided the race is at least half completed. Otherwise, all player entries will be cancelled and refunded.
If NASCAR officially shortens and finalizes a race for any reason, then the statistics that are generated for the portion of the race that has been completed will be used to settle contests and render them final.
ROSTER DEADLINES
Contests will close approximately five minutes before the start of the race included in the contest. You can edit your roster as many times as you like before the contest closing time, but all rosters are set and final and cannot be changed after a game locks. Contest start times are subject to change. Please check back for exact times within 24 hours of the event.
LIVE SCORING AND RACE COMPLETION
NASCAR contests that offer live scoring and standings updates are strictly for the enjoyment of DraftKings customers. However, they are not official and are for informational purposes only.
The checkered flag is thrown as soon as the winner crosses the finish line. At that time, all other drivers will finish out the lap they are currently on and will receive stats for that lap.
Official scores and results will be posted at the conclusion of the contest. You will know when the final results are posted when the contest status updates to “Completed”, and the contests moves from the “Live Games” section to the “Completed Games” section on the My Contests page.
Live scores are calculated using the standard fantasy league points system. See the Rules and scoring link on each draft screen for the specific points and categories used in that contest.
Payouts
DraftKings will wait until a final box score has been reported for the race to ensure that the final results are accurate. Our statistics provider, NASCAR, may make revisions to the final box score that corrects statistics published live during the race. In those cases, payouts will be based on the final box score, not the box score published during the race. If revisions are made after the final box score is published, payouts will not be reversed or changed. If there is difficulty obtaining official results or issues with scoring, the contest may be settled the following day or whenever the final box score is initially published.
