Charlotte Coca Cola 600 Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
AJ Allmendinger – Allmendinger has had some good performances at 1.5 mile tracks this season. In the first two races of the year at tracks of this length he had results of 6th and 7th. Kansas is the most recent 1.5 mile track visited and at that venue he finished 14th. Last fall at Charlotte he had a solid evening. He finished 12th and earned the 16th best driver rating. Last spring he didn’t race nearly as well. He started in 20th, had a 23rd place average running position and finished 23rd. His average running position is very representative of how he performed. In 2013 he didn’t compete in any events at Charlotte. In 2012 he a pretty bad year and had results of 24th and 33rd. In 2011 he had a career year at Charlotte when he swept the top ten and had finishes of 5th and 7th. (Yahoo B Driver)

Clint Bowyer – Charlotte Motor Speedway is the only intermediate track Clint Bowyer has ever won at. That victory was a fuel mileage win in October 2012. Since his win he’s finished worse every race. The good news is that it’s not possible he can finish worse again. Last fall his race lasted 94 laps and then his engine blew up. As a result of his early exit he finished 43rd, you can’t do worse than that. In that race he started in 25th but he showed potential. At the time of his exit he was running around 14th. To give you a better idea about his level of performance here’s a link to his Yahoo Race Chart. Last spring at Charlotte it looked like he had a strong car. Through the first half of the race he looked like a lock for a top five finish. Unfortunately his race wasn’t incident free. While running in 3rd on lap 185 he pitted under green for two tires because of a vibration. The vibration didn’t go away and on lap 193 he pitted again for another two tires. Because of those issues he walked away with a 17th place finish. In fall 2013 he ran well. He finished 11th and had an 11th place average running position. In spring 2013 he performed a little better. He started in 5th, finished 8th, had a 9th place average running position and earned the 6th best driver rating. In the four races at 1.5 mile tracks this season he’s finished between 21st and 24th every race. (Yahoo B Driver)

Austin Dillon – Austin Dillon has two starts under his belt at Charlotte and last year he was consistent finishing in the teens twice. Between the two races he had a 14.5 average finish, 17.0 average running position and the 20th best driver rating. Last fall he had his better of the two performances. He finished 13th and earned the 16th best driver rating. Over the final third of the race I would estimate his average running position was about 11th. The final restart wasn’t friendly for him because it dropped him from about 9th to his 13th place result. Last spring he started in 32nd, had an 18th place average running position and finished 16th.
