Charlotte Coca Cola 600 NASCAR Practice #1 Notes
NOTE: NASCAR teams want to limit drivers to about 100 miles to 125 miles of practice this weekend.
Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch felt sore following the All-Star Race. He’s working with a trainer this weekend. Early in the session he had some non-troubling smoke coming from his car (likely a tire rub). Wasn’t happy with his car and said it was a bit too tight. At the very end of practice he was still tight.

Kurt Busch – His team worked solely on qualifying trim. They focused on making small air pressure adjustments. His qualifying lap at the end of the session was slowed by Ryan Blaney.
Ryan Newman – Started practice in race trim and was tight during the opening laps. Later in practice he said he had better balance but he was way too loose. Went to qualifying trim with about an hour remaining.
Paul Menard – Started the session in race trim with a +10 lap run. After his first run he said his car felt pretty good. His final lap during his opening run was about .3 quicker than Stewart’s 11 lap run.
Cole Whitt – Started in race trim and said his car felt good. After completing 4 laps he went to qualifying trim.
