Jeff Gordon won the pole and choose to start in the outside lane.
Joey Logano started on the inside lane of the front row and jumped to an early lead. He led the first 21 laps.
Early in the race Kurt Busch looked very strong.
Big Moment: On lap #4 while Kyle Busch was running in 19th he got into the wall. He immediately went to the garage area with heavy damage.
Kevin Harvick’s car was really good over long runs.
Carl Edwards started in 3rd and was back in 13th on lap 13. He said his car was wrecking loose in turns 3 and 4.
Kurt Busch started in 16th and he was up to 6th on lap 19.

Notable Moment: During the competition caution on lap 20 Ryan Newman and Jimmie Johnson elected not to pit.
Big Moment: During the competition caution on pit road Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kyle Larson had contact. It damaged Larson’s car toe.
Big Moment: On lap 26 a “Big One” ensued. The drivers who were collected were the 7,10,14,20,21,32,51,78,83. Drivers who went to the garage from the accident were Kenseth, Truex, Allgaier and Bayne.

During a debris caution on lap 38 Jimmie Johnson and Ryan Newman were the only leaders who pitted. As a result of them pitting Joey Logano cycled into the lead. Johnson restarted in 23rd and was up to 13th on lap 45.

Notable Moment: On lap 49 Jimmie Johnson said his gear shifter was broken and he asked for a pair of vice grips during his next pit stop.
On lap 57 Jeff Gordon was racing side by side with Joey Logano for the lead.
On lap 59 Jeff Gordon cleared Joey Logano for the lead and drove away.
Notable Moment: On lap 77 Jimmie Johnson did his first pit stop with his broken gear shifter. He had significant problems getting up to speed.
