New Hampshire 301 Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Paul Menard – Paul Menard has raced at New Hampshire 16 times and has never finished in the top ten. Last September he was on pace to achieve that objective but his race wasn’t incident free. With 31 laps to go he was battling Matt Kenseth for 6th but they both spun. That dropped him back to the mid-twenties with only 30 laps remaining. When the checkered flag waved he was able to bounce back somewhat and finished 15th. In July 2014 he finished 19th but he performed a little better than his result. He started in 16th, had a 15th place average running position and ran 72.8% percent of the laps in the top fifteen. If it wasn’t for the last 40 laps he would’ve walked away with a good result. Prior to that portion of the race he ran very well here by his standards. Here’s a link to his Yahoo Race Chart so you can see what I mean. In fall 2013 Menard started in 7th, had an 18th place average running position and finished 22nd. In July 2013 he finished 17th and had a 17th place average running position. In his career at New Hampshire Menard has a 23.7 average finish and has only had a result in the top fifteen 13% percent of the time. Phoenix and Richmond are the two tracks that are the most similar to New Hampshire and earlier this year at those venues he had results of 14th and 15th. (Yahoo B Driver)

Greg Biffle – Greg Biffle has been a consistent driver at New Hampshire. At this venue he currently has 13 straight top 18 results. Also over this stretch dating back to his fall 2008 victory he has a 12.2 average finish. Last September he finished 16th but that result deserves an asterisk mark. In the race he was nowhere near competitive. At one point he was two laps down. Performance wise he probably had about a 25th place car. Also in that race it should be noted he had a 25th place average running position and earned the 25th best driver rating. Last July he also finished better than he performed. His result was 15th but you can’t overlook his 23rd place average running position and 23rd best driver rating. In fall 2013 he had a solid race. He started in 10th, slid back to the high-teens at the mid-point, but on lap 166 he radioed his team and told them his car came to life after getting four new tires. In the second half of the race he drove all the way up to a 3rd place finish. There was no funny business associated with that result. In July 2013 he started in 22nd, had the 19th best driver rating and finished 15th. This season at shorter flat tracks he has results of 21st (Richmond) and 27th (Phoenix). (Yahoo B Driver)

Aric Almirola – Aric Almirola ran well last September at New Hampshire and crossed the finish line in 6th. I wouldn’t say he was sixth place good but he did run well. In the race he earned the 13th best driver rating and had a 15th place average running position. Performance wise he was probably about 11th place good. Last July he started in the rear of the field in a backup car after he wrecked his primary car the day before in practice. Track position at “The Magic Mile” is huge so that greatly increased his level of difficulty. He was able to get around the “slow cars” with no problem but he didn’t get much closer to the front than 20th on his own merit. When the checkered flag waved he finished 23rd, had a 23rd place average running position and earned the 25th best driver rating. In September 2013 he finished exactly where he should have. In that event he finished 21st, had a 20th place average running position and earned the 22nd best driver rating. In July 2013 he finished 5th but that’s one of those results that deserve an asterisk mark. His good finish was due to pit strategy. The number you need know about him from that race is “17″. He started 17th, had a 17th place average running position and earned the 17th best driver rating. This year at similar tracks he has results of 19th (Phoenix) and 20th (Richmond). (Yahoo B Driver)
