Pocono Windows 10 400 Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Ryan Newman – Ryan Newman has a great track record at Pocono. This June he was going for his 10th straight top 12 finish at the “Tricky Triangle” but it wasn’t meant to be. It would’ve happened if his race was incident free. With 20 laps to go he was battling AJ Allmendinger for 7th but AJ got loose and took Newman out which led to a 39th place finish. Leading up to that race Newman had five straight top tens. Last August he had a solid afternoon finishing 8th and earning the 11th best driver rating. In June 2014 Ryan Newman didn’t look that good but when the checkered flag waved he finished 7th. His result is largely due to pit strategy. In the race he started in 15th and through the first 55 laps when pit strategy didn’t come into play I would estimate his average running position was around 20th. At Pocono in August 2013 he started in 4th, finished 4th, had an 8th place average running position and earned the 5th best driver rating. All around that was a solid race for him. In spring 2013 he played the pit strategy game very well. In that race he started in 23rd and ran in the twenties for about the first 60 laps. Then during a caution he stayed out on the track and got the lead. When the checkered flag waved he finished 5th and led 19 laps. In 2012 at Pocono he had results of 6th and 12th. In 2003 Ryan Newman started first, finished first and led 88 laps in route to his only win at the “Tricky Triangle”. (Yahoo A Driver)

Matt Kenseth – Pocono has been a trouble spot on the schedule for Matt Kenseth. Recently he’s had more than his fair share of problems here. Earlier this year at Pocono his race wasn’t incident free. During the first round of pit stops he was busted speeding on pit road and that dropped him down a lap. He was able to rally back from that using pit strategy and having a fast car. When the checkered flag waved he finished 6th. Prior to that race he had a five race streak of finishing 22nd or worse. Last August he was a victim of the lap 117 “Big One”. In June 2014 his race went downhill in the first quarter of the event. In that race on lap 36 while he was running in 19th he ran into the back of Jamie McMurray and got heavy nose damage. After that his car was never the same and he was no longer competitive. In that race he finished 25th and had a 26th place average running position. In August 2013 his race got off to a rocky start. He started in 24th and in turn 1 of lap #1 he was involved in a multi-car wreck. The damage he got from the wreck was minimal and it didn’t appear to impact his competitiveness. Then later in the race on lap 46 during green flag pit stops he got caught speeding on pit road and had to serve a pass through penalty. As a result he fell down a lap back to 30th. Then at the end he spun on lap 156 and brought out the Green-White-Checker. At the time of that incident he was running outside the top twenty. When the checkered flag waved he finished 22nd and had a 22nd place average running position. In June 2013 Kenseth had a 5th to 7th place car but finished a misleading 25th. His downfall in the race was contact with Montoya during a late restart. In August 2012 at Pocono Kenseth was running in second but during the last restart him and Jimmie Johnson had contact and he spun. In June 2012 he had a good race. He finished 7th, had a 7th place average running position, led 11 laps and earned the third best driver rating. (Yahoo A Driver)

Jamie McMurray – Don’t overlook Jamie McMurray at Pocono. Since the repave he’s been a strong performer. In the 7 races on the new surface he has a 11.4 average finish and a 14.9 average running position. Since he’s had a Hendrick engine under his hood he’s finished in the top ten every race. Earlier this year he performed well. He finished 7th, had an 11th place average running position and earned the 11th best driver rating. Over the last 100 laps of the race he ran 11th or better. In 2014 at Pocono he swept the top ten. In August 2014 he had a great race. He started 8th, finished 7th, earned the 6th best driver rating and had a 10th place average running position. Also in the race he earned the 14th best driver rating and ran in the top fifteen 45% percent of the time. In August 2013 McMurray’s race got off to a rough start. On lap 11 while he was running in 13th he came in for an unexpected pit stop because debris was on his grille and his car was getting hot. This unexpected pit stop dropped him back to 40th. Luckily for him a few laps later the caution came out when Hamiln got into the wall. In that race McMurray finished 16th, had a 17th place average running position and earned the 17th best driver rating. In spring 2013 he started in 22nd and finished 13th. In 2012 he had results of 10th and 17th. (Yahoo B Driver)
