Pocono Windows 10 400 Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Paul Menard – If Paul Menard was on your team this June then you know how the race played out for him. It was brutal. During his first pit stop he was caught speeding on pit road. While he served his pass through penalty the following lap he was once again caught speeding. That forced him to serve a pass and go penalty and when he left his pit stall a lug nut sliced his inner valve stem resulting in a cut tire which led to a flat. After all of these issues were finished he was 3 laps down and his day was essentially over. Prior to his problems he ran between 14th and 17th. Last August he also didn’t have an incident free race and was collected in the lap 117 “Big One”. If he didn’t have problems I thought he had mid-teens potential. In June 2014 he didn’t have a great race. He finished 26th, had a 22nd place average running position and earned the 25th best driver rating. In August 2013 he was running in 20th but was involved in a multi-car accident that led to him finishing three laps down in 32nd. In June 2013 Menard finished 30th. That result isn’t representative of his performance because on the last lap he had a flat tire that ruined his day. With 4 laps to go in the race he was running in 16th. In his next five most recent Pocono races he’s come home with results of 11th, 9th, 10th, 14th and 13th. (Yahoo B Driver)

Greg Biffle – Greg Biffle has been a steady driver at Pocono. He’s a former winner and has finished in the top fifteen 56% percent of the time. In the last six races he has a 10.0 average finish and a 14th place average running position. Earlier this year he had a solid race but finished better than he performed. In the event he finished 12th but don’t overlook his 20th place average running position and 16th best driver rating. Last August at Pocono Biffle started in 25th, had a 17th place average running position, led 11 laps and finished 5th. It should be noted that his good result is largely the product of him not making a late pit stop and nearly everyone else pitting. If that didn’t happen I think he would’ve finished in the teens. In June 2014 he finished 16th, earned the 17th best driver rating and had an 18th place average running position. If anything I would say his result is better than how he performed. From his 13th place starting position he fell back to the mid-twenties in just the first 40 laps. If it wasn’t for pit strategy he likely would’ve finished back there. In August 2013 he finished 10th, had an 11th place average running position and earned the 11th best driver rating. In the event nothing notable happened to him, it was just an all-around solid race. In June 2013 the #16 car was extremely strong. At the end of the race when it was time to get aggressive Biffle did so and drove up to a second place finish. In 2012 he was good in both races but didn’t finish were he deserved in either one. In August 2012 he was running in the top five but got collected in the last restart wreck. In that race he had the 5th best driver rating, a 7th place average running position and finished 15th. In June 2012 he had one of the best cars but had engine problems with a quarter of the race remaining. Before those issues surfaced he led 19 laps and had a car that was capable of running in the top three. (Yahoo B Driver)

Austin Dillon – Austin Dillon has been consistent at Pocono and finished in the mid to upper teens in all three races. Earlier this year at Pocono he didn’t have a good race. He started in 6th, had a 16th place average running position and finished 19th. If you’re in a fantasy league such as DraftKings his place differential would’ve been punishing to you. Last August at Pocono he earned the 12th best driver rating and finished 15th. Also in the race he had a 17th place average running position and ran more than half the event in the top fifteen. In June 2014 RCR used one of their allocated tests prior to the event and it seemed to be a non-factor. He finished 17th and earned the 18th best driver rating. It should be noted however that his race wasn’t incident free. On lap 85 during a restart he got penalized for switching lanes too early and as a result he served a pass through penalty. At the time of the incident he was running in 24th. Because of where he was running at the time it’s hard to say it really affected him. One strength of his here that should be noted is that he’s started in the top 11 every race. (Yahoo B Driver)
