Bristol Pre-Race Notes
Michael McDowell started in the rear of the field for unapproved adjustments.
David Ragan drove the 18.
Brett Moffitt drove the 55.
Denny Hamlin only drove about the first 20 laps before Erik Jones took over the 11. Hamlin had a sore neck.
Bristol Race Notes
Matt Kenseth won the pole and choose to start in the outside lane. He led the first five laps.
Kevin Harvick started in 4th and on lap 6 he took the lead. He then led the next 57 laps.
Notable Moment: On lap 9 Stenhouse Jr. bounced off the wall. He was able to keep on racing. He was running in 23rd and lost 8 positions as a result.
Kurt Busch’s car worked really well running the bottom groove early.
Big Moment: On lap 19 Brad Keselowski lost control of his car and Logano ran into him. They were running in 3rd and 4th. Supposedly it was sprinkling at the time. Logano went behind the wall and Keselowski underwent extensive repairs on pit road.
Big Moment: Following the Keselowski caution there was a long rain delay and during that time Denny Hamlin climbed out of his car and then Erik Jones took over driving the 11.
Running order on lap 41: 4,41,20,19,1,5,27,88,18,78 … 47,24,3,42,48,3,51,40,13,43 … 14,38,33,10,26,46,6,15,7,95
On lap 60 there was a competition caution for rain. During the competition caution Biffle and Hornish Jr. didn’t pit which got them up to 1st and 2nd.
On lap 70 Kurt Busch took the lead.
Running order on lap 79: 41,4,20,16,1,19,3,5,88,24 … 9,47,27,78,48,15,17,51,42
Big Moment: On lap 102 Dale Earnhardt Jr. had a right rear flat and made an unexpected pit stop. He was running in 9th at the time. Prior to his stop he said his car was good. It dropped him two laps down to 37th.
On lap 108 Landon Cassill had problems and stacked up almost the entire field.
Big Moment: On lap 124 Dale Earnhardt Jr. came in for another unexpected pit stop because he was still having tire issues. He was now 4 laps down.
On lap 125 Harvick passed Kurt Busch for the lead in traffic.

Around lap 136 AJ Allmendinger said his car was starting to overheat. He had contact with Paul Menard before he had his issues.
Notable Moment: On lap 159 Martin Truex Jr. had a vibration and came to pit road.
On lap 161 Kurt Busch retook the lead from Kevin Harvick.
Notable Moment: On lap 166 Greg Biffle pitted for fuel. He was running in 10th place at the time. Earlier in the race he opted not to pit which got him the lead. It dropped him a few laps down.
Shortly after Biffle pitted the caution came out because there was a weeper coming from the safer barrier.
During the third caution for the weeper the top ten in the running order was : 4,19,41,20,1,48,24,27,3,15
