Bristol IRWIN Tools Night Race Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Aric Almirola – Aric Almirola has some sleeper potential at Bristol. In three of the last four races at Thunder Valley he’s finished in the top 15. This spring he was solid throughout the event. He finished 13th, had a 13th place average running position and earned the 14th best driver rating. Last August at Bristol he started in the rear of the field in a backup car. In the portion of the race he completed he seemed to run well. From his rear of the field starting position he moved up through the field at a consistent pace up to about 20th before his forward progress stopped. On lap 123 his evening ended when he was involved in a wreck and got major damage. In spring 2014 at Thunder Valley he had one of the best results of his career. In that event he started in 23rd, had a 9th place average running position and finished 3rd. Also in the race he earned the 6th best driver rating and ran 86.9% percent of the laps in the top fifteen. In August 2013 he had a good performance. He started in 10th, finished 15th, had a 14th place average running position and earned the 12th best driver rating. In spring 2013 he had about a 20th place car but was involved in an accident before the mid-point. In the first race on the new configuration in August 2012 he had a good car for the first 75 laps (4th) but in the next 75 laps he nose-dived all the way back to about 30th. His problem was that he was only good in the bottom lane and after the top lane rubbered up he was no longer competitive. On lap #224 in that race while he was running in 22nd he got into the wall and damaged his car. (Yahoo B Driver)

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – Thunder Valley has been a great track for Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and out of the 23 venues on the circuit it’s arguably his best track. He’s raced here five times and his overall average finish is 9.2. Currently at Bristol Stenhouse Jr. has the most consecutive top tens (3). This spring at Bristol he finished 4th, had a 14th place average running position and earned the 12th best driver rating. Realistically I would say he was teens good and I would describe him as a “driver survivor” who avoided the mass carnage at the end. In 2014 he had a great season at Thunder Valley and scored the 2nd most points between the combined events. Last August he ran between the high-teens and low-twenties for the first 350 laps and over the final 150 laps he started to make his move towards the front. Over the final 75 laps he moved up from about 14th to his eventual 6th place finish position. In spring 2014 he had his best Sprint Cup result and finished 2nd. Also in that race he started in 21st, had a 10th place average running position and earned the 9th best driver rating. In 2013 he didn’t fare as well and had results of 16th and 18th. Austin Dillon – Bristol has been one of Austin Dillon’s better tracks. This spring he was on pace to have a great finish but while he was running in 3rd in the closing laps he was force to pit for fuel because the race went longer than its advertised distance. When the checkered flag waved he finished 10th. Also in the race it should be noted he had a 9th place average running position and earned the 9th best driver rating. In 95.1% percent of the laps he ran in the top fifteen. It’s hard to tell how good Austin Dillon was last August at Bristol. In that event he started in 26th and before lap 9 he had problems off turn 2 which dropped him back to 39th. What exactly happened to him was never shown on TV but I’ll speculate he got into the wall because after that he was never competitive. When the checkered flag waved he finished 28th, had a 32nd place average running position and earned the 39th best driver rating. In spring 2014 he had one of his better finishes of the season and finished 11th. It should be noted however that he really wasn’t that good. He started in 26th, had a 22nd place average running position and earned the 23rd best driver rating. (Yahoo B Driver)
