Joey Logano won the pole and choose the inside lane. He led the opening 94 laps.
Notable Moment: On lap 5 Danica Patrick almost wrecked after contact with Casey Mears. It really jumbled up the pack behind her and separated the field. Casey Mears got right front damage.
Denny Hamlin’s car was way off early. On lap 14 he was back to 7th.
In about 20 laps Logano was working his way up through lapped traffic.

Denny Hamlin said he couldn’t roll the center of the turns at all on lap 30.
30 laps into the race the pace fell off 1.5 seconds.
On lap 32 Jimmie Johnson had some minor nose damage.
On lap 41 Joey Logano, Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr. were all in a close vicinity battling for the lead.

Notable Moment: During the lap 50 competition caution Jamie McMurray had problems on pit road and had to start in the rear of the field in 30th. He was running in 8th prior to his issue.
Stewart liked his balance on lap 67. He was running in 9th at the time. He took part in Goodyear testing prior to the race.
On lap 69 Kahne was up 24 positions from his 40th place starting position.

Around lap 90 Jimmie Johnson was the first driver to use the high-line to pass people.
On lap 95 Kurt Busch passed Joey Logano for the lead.
After Logano lost the lead he fell back a few positions quickly. In 10 laps he was back in 5th

Other than Matt Kenseth the rest of the Joe Gibbs Racing drivers struggled at this point in the race.
On lap 132 Joey Gase got into the wall and brought out the caution.
Notable Moment: During pit stops following the Gase caution Clint Bowyer damaged his right front fender from contact with Danica Patrick on pit road.
