Chicagoland Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Ryan Newman – Ryan Newman has been a steady performer at Chicagoland. He’s a former winner and since 2007 he’s only finished outside of the top ten twice. Also since 2007 Newman has a 10.5 average finish, 13.0 average running position and has the 11th best driver rating. Last year in the Windy City Newman finished 15th. It wasn’t an easy 15th though because his race wasn’t incident free. He had to overcome a flat tire which caused him to pit under green which dropped him off the lead lap. If his race would’ve been incident free I think he definitely had top ten potential. In six of the seven Chicagoland races prior to that event he finished in the top ten. Over that stretch he had a 9.9 average finish, 12.6 average running position and the 12th best driver rating. In 2013 he started in 20th and ran mediocre for the first two-thirds of the event. In the final third he ran better. In that portion of the race he consistently ran within a few deviations of 9th. When the checkered flag waved he finished 10th and earned the 15th best driver rating. In 2012 he started in 20th, finished 5th and earned the 8th best driver rating. In 2011 he led 18 laps and finished 8th. This year at 1.5 mile tracks Newman has been solid. He has a 10.2 average finish and a 15.2 average running position. (Yahoo A Driver)

Jamie McMurray – Jamie McMurray should come home with a solid result for you at Chicagoland. In the last 8 races at high-speed intermediate tracks he’s scored the 11th most points and has a 13.4 average finish. Last year at Chicagoland Jamie McMurray had a great car and I would argue it was one of the best. In the race he ran the high-line and got tremendous runs down the straightaway. In the race it should be noted he started 11th, finished 9th, had a 6th place average running position, earned the 4th best driver rating and led 32 laps. In four of the six Chicagoland races prior to the event last year he finished between 19th and 22nd. In 2013 McMurray didn’t have a great race and wasn’t competitive. He started in 27th, earned the 22nd best driver rating, had a 22nd place average running position and finished 19th. In 2012 he had a similar performance and finished 21st and had a 20th place average running position. (Yahoo B Driver)

Paul Menard – Chicagoland hasn’t historically been a friendly track for Paul Menard but I wouldn’t overlook him at Chicagoland. This season at high-speed intermediate tracks he’s been a very solid performer. On this track type minus Texas and Kansas where he had top five potential in both races but had problems he has an 11.1 average finish and has had a result in the top fifteen every race. In the last five Chicagoland races Paul Menard has an 8.4 average starting position but a 17.6 average finish. Last year Paul Menard didn’t have a great car. He started 9th, had a 19th place average running position and finished 21st. In 2013 he started in 11th and ran well for the first 30 laps, but after that he didn’t run as well for the remainder of the race. When the checkered flag waved he finished 22nd and earned the 20th best driver rating. In 2012 at Chicagoland he finished 15th and had a 17th place average running position. (Yahoo B Driver)
