Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Martinsville
Martinsville is a track where attrition, self-inflicted problems and strategy can create misleading results. Below are drivers who walked away with an asterisk mark finish in the spring 2015 Martinsville race.
Jeff Gordon – Jeff Gordon had a great car this spring at Martinsville and I would argue it was the best. His 9th place finish doesn’t do him justice. His result is misleading and is the product of him getting a late speeding penalty while leading with 39 laps to go. That dropped him to 20th without a lot of race left to recover.
Carl Edwards – Carl Edwards had a good car this spring but that didn’t stop him from walking away with an asterisk mark 17th place finish. That lack luster result is the product of him getting a flat tire and spinning with 69 laps to go while he was running in 6th. Even with that issue he still had a 7th place average running position.

AJ Allmendinger – AJ Allmendinger finished dead last this spring at Martinsville. That was a huge disappointment because he actually ran quite well. While he was running in the top ten in the first quarter of the race he had an oil leak and later that proved to be fatal. To give you a better idea about his level of performance here’s a link to his Yahoo Race Chart.
