Martinsville Personal / Comparative Fantasy Values
Drivers have two types of fantasy value every week. They have Personal Fantasy Value and Comparative Fantasy Value.
Personal Fantasy Value is an estimation of how good the driver is at a certain track compared to the other venues on the circuit.
Comparative Fantasy Value is an estimation of how good the driver compares to the competition at a certain track.
Let’s talk about AJ Allmendinger’s fantasy values. His Personal Fantasy Value is high. Martinsville has been a great track for him. This spring he looked very competitive and had top ten potential until he was side lined because of an oil leak. In 6 of the 7 races prior to that he finished in the top fourteen. Martinsville is perhaps his best oval track.
His Comparative Fantasy Value is medium. Although Martinsville has been a good track for him he’ll likely prove to be a “middle of the road” performer. The main reason why I think that is because the 47 team has fallen on hard times and it’s been months since they last performed well. In only 2 of the last 10 races have they finished on the lead lap.
