Phoenix Pre-race Notes
David Ragan drove the #18.
Brian Vickers drove the #55.
AJ Allmendinger started in the rear of the field because of an engine change.
This was Kurt Busch’s first race of the season.
Phoenix Race Notes
Joey Logano jumped to an early lead and led the first 25 laps.
Big Moment: On lap #2 Brian Vickers got into the wall after contact with Jimmie Johnson. Vickers went to the garage area for repairs. Johnson got some nose damage and pitted when no one else did which dropped him to the rear of the field. It was a spotter issue from the #55 team. Vickers was told he was clear and he wasn’t.
Kevin Harvick’s car wasn’t good over the opening two restarts. By lap 7 he was back in 5th. By lap 12 he was up to 2nd.
Notable Moment: On lap 15 Alex Kennedy spun and brought out the caution.

On lap 25 Kevin Harvick passed Joey Logano for the lead.
On lap 27 Kasey Kahne was happy with his car.
On lap 28 Brad Keselowski passed Kasey Kahne for third. His car was very strong.
Kurt Busch ran an almost identical setup to Kevin Harvick’s. He liked his balance and his car was good over long runs.
On lap 32 Kevin Harvick had a one second lead.

As the race went on the groove really started to widen in the turns.
On lap 48 Kevin Harvick lead his 1,000th lap at Phoenix. Nobody has led more laps here than him here.
On lap 48 Jimmie Johnson was up to 15th after his early trouble.
Notable Moment: On lap 63 Michael Annett slowed on the track and went to the garage.
On lap 68 a caution came out for debris.
Race off pit road on lap 69 following the debris caution: 4,22,2,20,1,5,41,31,24,48
Notable Moment: During pit stops for the debris caution Martin Truex Jr. had a slow stop and dropped from 10th to 23rd.

On lap 74 Justin Allgaier reported he had a vibration.
Kyle Larson liked his car and was running in 10th on lap 81.
Jimmie Johnson was up to 9th on lap 96.

Martin Truex Jr.’s car was good over long runs.
Notable Moment: On lap 117 Sam Hornish Jr. spun. He had a flat tire. In the Indy car series he’s won at Phoenix twice.
During the Sam Hornish Jr. caution Kevin Harvick dropped from first to fifth. Some of the drivers who beat him off pit road only took two tires.
During the Sam Hornish Jr. pit stop Dale Earnhardt Jr. got a speeding penalty. It dropped him from just outside the top ten to 27th.

Notable Moment: On lap 142 Clint Bowyer thought he had loose wheel. He missed coming to pit road that time around. The following lap he pitted. It dropped him a lap down. Prior to his issue he was running around 18th.
