Yahoo C List Fantasy NASCAR Preview – Phoenix
Erik Jones – Don’t overlook Erik Jones at Phoenix. I think he has the ability to sneak in a good result on Sunday. In the Truck Series at Phoenix Jones currently has back to back wins. This spring in the Nationwide Series in the desert he finished 5th. Richmond is the most similar track to Phoenix and in the Nationwide Series at that venue he had results of 4th and 5th this year.

Danica Patrick – At Phoenix the best case scenario to expect from Danica Patrick is likely a high-teens to low-twenties finish. In 2015 at shorter flat tracks Patrick has a 26.8 average finish and has only had one result in the top twenty. This spring at Phoenix she didn’t have a great race and finished 26th. That result is pretty reflective of her performance because over the final 2/3rds of the race she ran around that range. Last fall she started in 32nd, had a 24th place average running position and finished 22nd. In spring 2014 she likely had a low twenties car but was involved in an accident which later resulted in a spin because of a flat tire. As a result of her incidents she finished 36th. In fall 2013 she was extremely uncompetitive and finished 33rd. In spring 2013 she was involved in an accident and finished 39th. Her best Phoenix performance was her first race in fall 2012. In that event she struggled but at the end she found herself up in 13th but was spun by Jeff Burton on the final lap. When the checkered flag waved she finished 17th.
David Ragan – Phoenix is not a good track for David Ragan. In fact it might just be his worst. His 27.8 average finish ranks as his second worst among the 23 tracks on the schedule. In the last 13 races at Phoenix his best finish is 19th. This spring he had a “golden ticket” to show something when he drove the #18 car and he didn’t. In the race he didn’t run well. He finished 21st and had a 19th place average running position. In the 9 Phoenix races prior to this springs event he finished 25th or worse. In 2014 his results were 25th and 28th.
Justin Allgaier – This spring at Phoenix Justin Allgaier started 28th, had a 20th place average running position, earned the 20th best drive rating and finished 18th. If anything I would say he was slightly better than his result because he fell back quite a few positions at the end. If the late caution didn’t come out he could’ve finished 12th. To give you a better idea about his level of performance here’s a link to his Yahoo Race Chart. Last fall his car wasn’t good and he sustained some early damage on pit road while running around 30th. That damage dropped him down a few laps. When the checkered flag waved he finished 37th. His other two Phoenix finishes were results of 30th and 31st. This season at shorter flat tracks minus New Hampshire where he had problems in both races he has a 20.3 average finish.
