In recent year’s NASCAR point champions have been quite successful in the following Daytona 500 when they begin their championship defense. That’s good news for Kyle Busch heading into the Great American Race.
In the last three Daytona 500’s the reigning champion has a 3.66 average finish. In last year’s Daytona 500 the 2014 champion Kevin Harvick finished 2nd. Brad Keselowski and Jimmie Johnson were the two champs before him and in their respective Daytona 500’s following their championship they finished 4th and 5th.
