Yahoo C List Fantasy NASCAR Preview – Daytona 500
Chase Elliott – Chase Elliott will start on the pole for the Daytona 500. Unfortunately it’s not too much of an advantage in the 2016 Great American Race. Chase Elliott has zero Sprint Cup starts at plate tracks under his belt. In February 2015 at Daytona in the Xfinity Series he showed potential and had a great chance to get a top ten but wrecked. In July 2015 at Daytona he bounced back and finished 3rd. In 2014 at Daytona in the lower series he had results of 15th and 20th. In the Daytona 500 Chase Elliott will have a great ride. Hendrick cars are the cream of the crop at plate tracks at the moment. In the 2015 Great American Race Jeff Gordon former driver of the #24 started on the pole, led the most laps (87) but unfortunately wrecked at the end. In July at Daytona Truex Jr. said the Hendrick cars were so fast that he couldn’t get up to their bumper and it felt like there was a bubble of air behind them. Performance wise in this race I think he has a good chance to be Front Runner Rankings good. From an allocation perspective it should be noted picking Chase Elliott might not be the best thing to do. Brian Vickers – Brian Vickers 2016 schedule is cloudy at the moment but he’ll likely be in more races in the #14. At Daytona Vickers has had some success. His most recent race here was in July 2014 and in that event he finished 2nd. For reference that was when Aric Almirola won. His most recent Daytona 500 was in 2014 and in that race he wrecked and finished 30th. In 5 of his 7 Daytona races prior to that he finished between 7th and 15th. In 2014 on this track type Vickers scored the 6th most points in the series. (Yahoo C Driver / DraftKings Price $5,600)

Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney has some sleeper value at Daytona. He’s only raced here once and his 39th place finish should scare plenty of people away. In last year’s Great American Race he showed potential. Late in the race with 25 laps to go he was running in 13th but his engine blew up. Talladega is the other plate track on the schedule and he showed speed there in 2015. Last spring at that venue he started 3rd, finished 4th and earned the 4th best driver rating. The end of the race was single file and he stayed in line so he was able to earn his good result rather easily. In October 2015 at Talladega he also ran well but his engine blew up which led to his last place finish. For reference for how well he ran here’s a link to his Yahoo Race Chart. (Yahoo C Driver / DraftKings Price $7,400)

Ty Dillon – Ty Dillon will be driving the RCR prepared #95 in the Daytona 500. Next week at Atlanta he’ll drive the #14. He’s also expected to drive the #14 at Phoenix, Auto Club Speedway and Talladega. Last year Dillon competed in the Daytona 500 and finished 28th after being taken out in a late wreck. If he didn’t wreck late he likely would’ve finished around 20th. At some points in that race Dillon ran really well (Yahoo Race Chart). He has no other Sprint Cup Daytona races under his belt. Last year in the Xfinity Series at Daytona he finished 3rd and 26th. (Yahoo C Driver / DraftKings Price $5,600)
