Yahoo C list Fantasy NASCAR Preview – Auto Club 400
Chase Elliott – I expect Chase Elliott to be fast at Auto Club Speedway. It’s a great track for Hendrick cars and I don’t see any reason why he can’t have success. In the Sprint Cup series he’s never raced at a two mile oval. Last year at two mile ovals in the Xfinity series he was fast. He finished 4th at Auto Club Speedway and 2nd at Michigan. In 2014 in the lower series at two-mile ovals he came home with a pair of 6th place finishes. This year at intermediate tracks Chase Elliott has been impressive. He finished 8th at Atlanta and was top ten good at Las Vegas until he crashed. This week I expect him to be Front Runner Rankings good. (DraftKings – $8,600)
Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney is a true talent. I expect him to run very well at Auto Club Speedway. He has a Penske car and last year they were strong with Brad Keselowski racing his way to victory lane. This week he’s entering the race with back to back top tens. That’s the first time the #21 has had back to back top tens in 11 years. At intermediate tracks this year he’s run well. At Las Vegas he finished 6th and at Atlanta he looked destined to finish 14th until he wrecked at the end. (DraftKings – $6,600)
Brian Vickers – Brian Vickers will drive the #14 at Auto Club Speedway. At Las Vegas he was high-teens good but turned out to be a dud after a parts failure. At Auto Club Speedway he should perform better. Auto Club Speedway has historically been a great track for him. Since 2007 he’s only once finished lower than 12th. In 8 of the 9 races since 2007 he’s finished between 7th and 12th. 2014 was his most recent Auto Club start and in that race he finished 7th. His next most recent finish was a 8th in 2011. If you need to save a start this is a good week to select him. (DraftKings – $6,200)
Brian Scott – Rookie Brian Scott has two races under his belt at Auto Club Speedway. Last year he started 25th and finished 27th. Performance wise he ran pretty well in the first half of the race. About 90 laps into the event he legitimately drove into the top ten. In the second half of the race I’ll speculate his team didn’t keep up with changing track conditions because he continually fell back in the running order. In 2014 he made his first Auto Club start. In that race he started 37th and finished 35th. He showed potential but wrecked while running around 20th after contact with Almirola. Following the wreck Almirola said Scott was a “dart without feathers” (video of the incident). This year at intermediate tracks Scott has results of 27th and 31st. (DraftKings – $5,500)
Chris Buescher – Last year at Auto Club Speedway Chris Buescher piloted the #34 (his current ride). He had a great afternoon by #34 team standards. When the race reached its conclusion he finished 20th. That result still stands as the best in his career. Additionally in the race he earned the 26th best driver rating and had a 27th place average running position. Last year in the lower series at Auto Club Buescher finished 5th. This year at high-speed intermediate tracks Buescher has results of 26th and 28th. (DraftKings – $5,700)
