Auto Club 400 NASCAR Practice #2 Notes
Kurt Busch – His team made wholesale setup changes before this session. “A little tight into 3, a little loose off 2 the majority of the run.” Got into the wall with about 23 minutes left in the session. He was loose when he got into the wall. He will be going to a backup car and will start in the rear of the field on Sunday.
Aric Almirola – Got into the wall coming off turn 2 pretty hard. His car was loose. He got minor damage that his team will repair.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. – Started with a 10 lap run. He was tight in the center of the corners. His splitter was hitting the track during his opening run. At the very end he said it will be hard to compete with the ride quality he was experiencing. He also said he doesn’t have enough grip and can’t ride near the fence.
Carl Edwards – Worked on getting better over the bumps in turn 3. Has a good car. Towards the end of the session he radioed his crew chief and said, “No good, I push the throttle and then there’s a second delay.”
Landon Cassill – Said his car drove a lot better than yesterday.
