Martinsville STP 500 Personal / Comparative Fantasy Values
Drivers have two types of fantasy value every week. They have Personal Fantasy Value, and Comparative Fantasy Value.
Personal Fantasy Value is an estimation of how good the driver is at a certain track compared to the other tracks on the circuit.
Comparative Fantasy Value is an estimation of how good the driver compares to the competition at a certain track.
Let’s talk about Kurt Busch’s Martinsville Fantasy Values.
His Personal Fantasy Value is low. On paper it might just be his worst track despite the fact he’s a two-time champion. With his current employer he won at Martinsville in spring 2014. To find his next most recent top ten you have to go back to fall 2005! Martinsville simply doesn’t rank as one of his better tracks and that’s why his Personal Fantasy Value is low.
His Comparative Fantasy Value is high. Over the last four Martinsville races he’s ranked as one of the better drivers. His results don’t show it on paper but he’s been very strong. Last fall he was easily top five strong until he was collected in the “Big One.” In spring 2015 he also looked top ten good until he damaged his nose (finished 14th). In fall 2014 he was running in 7th late until he had a cut oil line. In spring 2014 he raced his way to victory lane.
