Martinsville STP 500 Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions

Greg Biffle – Martinsville hasn’t been a bad track for Greg Biffle. Over the last 8 races he has a 14.6 average finish. In 7 of those races he finished between 9th and 19th. Last fall he had his only finish outside of that range. Last November Biffle started 25th, finished 26th and earned the 27th best driver rating. His race wasn’t incident free and it’s somewhat surprising he finished that well. In the event he damaged his car in a multi-car wreck on lap 113 and then he spun on laps 156 and 281. Last spring didn’t have a great car. He finished 19th, earned the 19th best driver rating and had a 20th place average running position. His 19th place finish marked his 8th straight result in the top twenty. In fall 2014 Biffle likely had a mid-teens to high-teens car but when the checkered flag waved he finished 13th. In spring 2014 he looked very competitive at times. Shortly after lap 150 he even drove to the lead and led 18 laps. Unfortunately that was short lived and for whatever reason his car appeared to drop off competitively. In the race Biffle started in 11th, had a 13th place average running position, earned the 14th best driver rating and finished 18th. In the four Martinsville races prior to that he finished 9th, 9th, 10th and 13th. (Yahoo B Driver, DraftKings $6,600)

Casey Mears – Casey Mears has some dark horse fantasy value at Martinsville. Since 2013 minus fall 2014 where he was caught up in a wreck Mears has an 18.6 average finish and a 22.0 average running position. In all five of those races he finished between 15th and 24th. Last fall he was a high-teens performer. He finished 17th, had a 17th place average running position and earned the 18th best driver rating. In spring 2014 Mears finished slightly better. That afternoon he finished 15th and earned the 17th best driver rating. In fall 2014 he was involved in a wreck and finished 37th. In the three races prior to that he finished 24th, 21st and 16th.
