Texas Duck Commander 500 NASCAR Practice #1 Notes
Chase Elliott – His crew chief feels confident about how he’ll perform this weekend because of his driving style. He started in race trim to get a good baseline setup for his car. After his first run he reported his car was tight. 35 minutes into practice he said adjustments helped him on entry, but he needs to improve on drive off. Near the end following a qualifying run he said, “Pretty happy. A little snug getting turned, but I think I’d rather it be that way.”

Started in race trim. Went to qualifying trim 30 minutes into the session. After a run in qualifying trim he said, “3&4 wasn’t bad, a lot of commotion in 1&2.” He was in 5th on the speed chart at the time of that comment.
Jimmie Johnson – Was in qualifying trim the entire session.
Martin Truex Jr. – Was in qualifying trim the entire session. Jumped to the top of the speed chart during the final minute.
