Yahoo C List Fantasy NASCAR Preview – Richmond Toyota Owners 400
Chase Elliott – Chase Elliott will be a driver to watch at Richmond. He’s hot right now and has scored the 4th most points in the last five races. Currently he has back to back top fives. One aspect I really like about Chase Elliott is how well he ran at Phoenix this spring. In that race he finished 8th and had a 9th place average running position. At Richmond the 24 car has run very well here recently and Chase Elliott will be a benefactor of that success. Last year in the Sprint Cup Series Elliott made five starts and his most successful afternoon came here. Last spring he started 16th, finished 16th, had a 17th place average running position and earned the 17th best driver rating. On Sunday I expect him to be much better than that. In the lower series Chase has run well here. In 2015 in the Xfinity Series Elliott finished 5th in the spring, and went to victory lane in the fall.
Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney has never been in a Sprint Cup race at Richmond. Since that’s the case I would study how he performed at Phoenix this spring. In the desert this spring he had a pretty good afternoon. He finished 10th, had a 15th place average running position and earned the 14th best driver rating. At Richmond in 2014 in the Xfinity Series Blaney had results of 4th and 9th.
Brian Vickers – Not racing. Brian Vickers will drive the #14 at Richmond. He’s had some success here. In 2014 when he drove the #55 he had results of 12th and 13th. On Sunday I don’t think he’ll be that good. That said from an allocation perspective if you feel like saving starts he’s a decent option. Who knows how many more starts he’ll get, he certainly doesn’t seem to know. It should be noted Brian Vickers has been a risky option. In about 50% percent of his starts this year he’s burned people who have picked him.
Brian Scott – Brian Scott has one start under his belt at Richmond. Last September he drove the #33 and essentially ran between the low-twenties and the high-twenties. When the race reached its conclusion he earned the 21st best driver rating, finished 22nd and had a 23rd place average running position. In the lower series Brian Scott has shown potential at Richmond and has almost won. Last year in the Xfinity Series he finished 3rd and 7th. At Phoenix this spring Scott did not run well. He finished 27th and had a 28th place average running position.
Chris Buescher – It’s hard to be high on rookie Chris Buescher at Richmond. Roush Fenway Racing was awful here last year and when you factor in him being in “Roush B” equipment it’s hard to see a lot going right. In the Sprint Cup series Buescher has zero starts under his belt. Last year in the lower series at Richmond Buescher finished 10th and 20th. At Phoenix this spring Buescher finished 30th and had a 31st place average running position.
