Fantasy NASCAR Lessons Learned – Furniture Row Racing
The NASCAR season is now a third of the way complete. NASCAR lessons have been learned and here’s fantasy observations on Furniture Row Racing which Martin Truex Jr. drives for.
Martin Truex Jr. – I thought the #78 team would be taking a step back this season with a manufacture change but I was wrong. They haven’t lost a step and going forward they probably have more upside then they did in 2015. This year Martin Truex Jr. has been a fantasy ace at high-speed intermediate tracks. In the five races held on that track type he belongs in the conversation of being the strongest performer. In the last two races on that track type he should’ve won. At 1.5 mile tracks this season Truex Jr. has the best driver rating, is tied for the best average running position (5.8), has led the most laps, has run the most fastest laps and has a misleading 9.5 average finish.
One aspect you have to like about Martin Truex Jr. right now is his momentum. On a weekly basis over the last couple of races he’s been contending for wins. It’s just like last season at this time of the year and he eventually found victory lane at Pocono. We could be seeing a repeat of that.
Over the second half of the season one story line from an organizational standpoint that will surface is Furniture Row Racing getting a second car in 2017. I think it’s going to happen. Look for a current Joe Gibbs Racing driver or Erik Jones to join Truex next season.
