Kentucky Quaker State 400 NASCAR Happy Hour Notes
Kurt Busch – Made contact with the wall and spun 45 minutes into practice. His team told him that there might’ve been oil on the track. He’ll be going to a backup car and will start in the rear of the field. Prior to wrecking he reported he was tight everywhere.
Denny Hamlin – Hit the wall 12 minutes into practice and got some right side damage. The damage wasn’t severe and his team will repair it.
Jimmie Johnson – After some adjustments just after the midpoint he said, “Those adjustments really helped. The car is responding much better.”

Austin Dillon – In the opening minutes he said, “Something is smoking in here, so look at it.” He then took his car to the garage. Whatever the smoking issue was it couldn’t be a big deal because he returned to the track about 10 minutes later. 40 minutes into practice he said, “Best we’ve been in turns 3 and 4. We’re tight in turns 1 and 2 and through the bump.” At the end he reported he had loose handling.
Kasey Kahne – Almost wrecked early in practice. About 45 minutes into practice he said, “It’s hard to get low, hard to keep the car pointed.”
