Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – New Hampshire
Every week in NASCAR there’s drivers who have problems in the race and walk away with an asterisk mark result. Understanding misleading finishes and knowing how good drivers truly were can help give you the edge on your competition. Many fantasy racers just look at results and assume that’s how good drivers were. This post explains who had a misleading result last fall at New Hampshire, and how good they truly were.
Kevin Harvick – Nobody had a better car than Kevin Harvick last fall. His car was clearly the class of the field and his 21st place finish deserves an asterisk mark. The reason for his misleading result is that he ran out of fuel while leading with 3 laps to go. In the race Harvick earned the best driver rating, led 216 laps and ran 93 fastest laps.
Kurt Busch – Kurt Busch had a great car last fall but like a few others he ran out of fuel in the closing laps. He ran out on the final lap while running in 5th. That caused him to finish 19th. His average running position for the afternoon was 5th.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. – Dale Earnhardt Jr. had a strong showing last fall but he was another driver who ran out of fuel during the closing laps. He ran out with two laps to go while he was running in 11th. When the checkered flag waved he finished 25th.
