Indy Pre-Race Notes
In this race NASCAR used an experimental high-down force package. It greatly increased the level of difficulty in terms of passing. This race was also very heavy with pit strategy.
Chase Elliott drove the #25.
Brian Scott drove the #33.
Indy Race Notes
Joey Logano started in 2nd in the outside lane and led the opening 11 laps.

During lap 12 Carl Edwards passed Joey Logano for the lead. He then led the next 20 laps.
Notable Moment: On lap 17 AJ Allmendinger made an unexpected pit stop because he thought he had a tire going down.
Brad Keselowski was the biggest mover early in the race. On lap 21 he was up 15 positions from where he started.

Kurt Busch believed he had a tire going down and pitted on lap 28. It started the first round of pit stops.
On lap 32 Kevin Harvick assumed the lead during the pit cycle. He was one of the drivers who pitted earlier then others. He pitted 4 laps sooner then the previous race leader Carl Edwards. He then led the next 14 laps.
Notable Moment: During the first round of pit stops Austin Dillon got a speeding penalty. When he served his penalty he was caught speeding again and had to do a stop and go penalty the following lap.

On lap 45 the caution came out for debris. Joey Logano stayed out and assumed the lead. He then led the next 16 laps.
Big Moment: On lap 51 Jeff Gordon and Clint Bowyer spun. Jeff Gordon’s car was damaged and Clint Bowyer really didn’t get any damage.

Martin Truex Jr. liked his car during the pit cycle on lap 62 and said it was pretty well balanced.
Running order on lap 72: (note: this was pretty jumbled up because of earlier pit strategy): 4,14,2,42,19,10,43,16,25,17 … 13,5,31,40,18,20,78,48,22,88 … 11,21,55,27,1,41,15,3,33,47

Around lap 85 another pit cycle started and drivers who didn’t pit earlier had to pit. It continued to about lap 91.
On lap 91 a caution came out for debris. This got Clint Bowyer back on the lead lap.
