Yahoo C List Fantasy NASCAR Preview – Indianapolis
Chase Elliott – Don’t count out Chase Elliott at Indy. I think he’s extremely capable of contending for a top five. Pocono is the most similar track on the schedule and at that venue earlier this year he might’ve had the best car. When that race reached its conclusion he earned the best driver rating, led the most laps (51), had the best average running position (4th) and finished 4th. I think we’ll definitely see a high correlation from his success that afternoon to Indy. Last year in the Xfinity Series at Indy Chase finished 10th. In 2014 in the Xfinity Series he finished 12th.
Jeff Gordon – NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon is back and will drive the #88 at Indy. I think picking him is essentially a must. He’s an elite talent and he’ll allow you to save starts with Elliott and Blaney. I’ll note from a performance standpoint I think the #24 should out run him. Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney should have a solid showing at Indy. Last year when he raced at Indy he had one of his best performances of the season. In that event he started 30th and drove up to a 12th place finish. He did use some pit strategy but ran well legitimately. Pocono is similar to Indy and earlier this season at that venue he finished 10th.
Chris Buescher – Chris Buescher fantasy ceiling at Indy is likely a result in the low twenties. Anything better than that then it’ll mean Indy turned into a high attrition event. Pocono is the most similar track and this spring at that venue he finished 25th. Last year at Indy in the Xfinity Series Buescher finished 16th.
Brian Scott – Brian Scott hasn’t run well all season and I don’t expect that to change now. Based on the way he’s performed a result in the mid-twenties is likely the best case scenario. The most likely scenario is a high-twenties to low-thirties result. Last year at Indy Brian Scott drove the #33 and finished 36th. Last year in the Xfinity Series Scott finished 11th. Heading into Indy Scott has six straight results in the 30’s.
